DECEMBER 12, 2005 - The Age Group Gold Las Lic Swim Meet results posted yesterday contained numerous errors. The results are being reviewed and will be posted as soon as the review is complete.

DECEMBER 11, 2005 - The Y-Speedos Swim Club today returned to winning ways when they walked away with the Age Group Gold Las Lic Swim Meet Champions Trophy scoring 1467 points at the National Stadium Pool. The Tornadoes Swim Club were second with 928 points while the visiting Stingray Swim Club from Cayman placed third with 652. The Speedos also won the Masters Trophy ahead of the Electric Eel Swim Club and Royal Swim Club....full results

DECEMBER 7, 2005 - Four members of Jamaica's National Squad and a delegation from the Tornadoes Swim Club will compete in the Total Teamwear Winter Championships December 8-11....more

DECEMBER 1, 2005 - A new ASAJ Executive was last night elected at the Associations Annual General Meeting. John Eyre was returned unopposed as President as was Locksley Todd (1st Vice President) and Garth Henriques (Vice President Water Polo). Michelle McIntyre is the new Vice President Synchronized Swimming and Faith Palmer the new Secretary. Kendis Nangle will remain in the Position of Vice President but will demit office as soon as a suitable replacement is found. The positions of Treasurer and Assistant Secretary/Treasurer remain open and will be appointed by Council.

NOVEMBER

November 30, 2005 - The Amateur Swimming Association of Jamaica (ASAJ) will today hold their Annual General Meeting at the Audio Visual Room of the Jamaica Airwing (Up Park Camp) starting at 7:00 PM. Elections will be held for the positions of President, 1st Vice President, Vice President for Swimming, Water Polo and Synchronized Swimming. The positions of Secretary, Assistant Secretary/Treasurer and Treasurer will also be up for grabs.

November 27, 2005 - Trinidad and Tobago today won the Jamaica International Invitational Water Polo Competition defeating the Jamaica Junior Selection 10-5. The International Selection won the Bronze Medal game defeating the Jamaica Senior Selection 18-4....results

November 26, 2005 - Inter-Secondary School Water polo League climaxes with St Georges College, Wolmer Boys, Holy Childhood winning in five age categories....results

November 26, 2005 - 230 swimmers from eight clubs participated in the ASAJ 25 M Development Swim Meet held at the National Stadium Pool...results

November 25, 2005 - The ASAJ Development Swim Meet will dive into action today at 2:00 PM using the 25 M pool at the National Stadium. Jamaica's National Squad Swimmers, who are excluded from entering the competition, will act as officials. OCTOBER

October 25, 2005 - There will be a Swimming Stroke and Turn Judge Clinic on Sunday November 20 (2:00 PM - 6:00 PM). The clinic will focus on the recent rule changes and will be part of the ASAJ Swimming Technical Official Certification series. Please call the ASAJ office to register for the clinic (venue will be announced).

October 23, 2005 - Defending Champions the Tornadoes Swim Club scored 758 points to retain the AB Short Course Swim Classic Trophy today at the National Stadium Pool. The Y-Speedos Swim Club was second with 687 points and the Blue Seals Swim Club third with 227. Brad Hamilton had the best performance swim timing 1:07.58 (639 FINA points) in the 100 M Breaststroke, edging the National Record holder Dominic Lee who touched in 1:08.04....results

SEPTEMBER

September 30, 2005 - Jamaica's National Junior Men's Water Polo Team will leave the island tomorrow for Fort Lauderdale enroute to Argentina where they will compete in the 13th FINA Men's Junior Water Polo World Championships. The team will play a number of practice matches at the Fort Lauderdale Hall of Fame Pool before leaving for Mar del Plata, Argentina on Monday October 3rd.

September 30, 2005 - Jamaica's Water Polo Referee Mark Jones left the island today for Argentina to participate in a Water Polo Referee's School prior to officiating in the 13th FINA Men's Junior Water Polo World Championships (October 6-15)

September 15, 2005 -The ASAJ has invited 57 swimmers to the National Swim Squad

September 15, 2005 -Jamaica's Minister of Sport, the Hon. Portia Simpson Miller, today made Jamaica's participation in the 13th FINA Junior Men's Water Polo World Championships a reality when she handed ASAJ President $2 million. This will go a long way in funding the $2.8 million budget.

September 9, 2005 -The Sport Development Foundation today continued it's support for Jamaica's aquatics programme when ASAJ President John Eyre was handed a check valued $300,000. The grant will used to send Jamaica's Junior Men's Water Polo Team to Argentina for the FINA World Championships.

September 6, 2005 -ASAJ Swimming Technical Director Jackie Walter and Tornadoes Swim Club Coaches Katherine Lim Sang and Barry Brown will tomorrow travel to Fort Lauderdale, Florida to participate  tomorrow to attend the 2005 ASCA World Clinic....clinic programme

September 6, 2005 -ASAJ Aquatics Administrator Wendy Lee is in Fort Lauderdale, Florida to attend the 2005 ASCA World Clinic where she will complete the Certified Pool Operators Course. The training is part of the ASAJ's drive to improve the Management and Quality of services at Jamaica's National Stadium Pool

June 27, 2005 - Bradley Ally of Barbados continues to do well on day 3 of the Santa Clara Invitational. Bradley clocked 57.36 for 18th place in the 100 Metre butterfly (57.07 in the prelims). In the 200 Metre backstroke, he swam 2:06.11 to finish third in the "B" final he was just nipped for second by Randall Bal the world record holder in the 50 metre backstroke (SCM). Ally later claimed a gold medal in the 800 metre freestyle relay with his club Pine Crest in 7:40.54....results

June 26, 2005 - Bajan Bradley Ally takes second in the 400 I.M in 4:21.11 against a world class field at the Santa Clara Invitational. Ally was sandwiched between the Olympic Silver Medallist in the 200 I.M. Ryan Lochte and Pan American gold medallist in the 400 I.M. Robert Margalis both of the United States...results

February 22, 2005 - Facing a budget of JA$3.5 million for Jamaica's participation in CARIFTA 2005, the ASAJ has launched a major fund raising drive. The first project is a swim-a-thon to be held March 12. Proceeds will go towards the CARIFTA Team and the purchase of equipment for the National Stadium Pool. Pick-up your collection form from the ASAJ Office at the National Stadium Pool. More information on this and other projects will be provided in the coming days.
