Janelle, who won 3 Silver Medals at the 1999 Pan American Games, will swim the 200, 400 and 800 M Freestyle events. Angela Chuck, a freestyle sprint specialist (50, 100 & 200 M Free), also competed for Jamaica at the 1999 Pan Am and 2000 Olympic Games. Tamara Swaby, who prefers the butterfly, is familiar with competition at this level as she represented Jamaica at the 1999 Pan Am Games. Backstrokers Ramon James and Mariana Chuck will be representing Jamaica for the first time at this level. Both swimmers have successfully represented Jamaica at recent CARIFTA, CISC and CCCAN competitions.

To qualify for selection to Jamaica's Commonwealth Games Swim Team, the swimmers had to attain qualifying standards set by the Amateur Swimming Association of Jamaica.

The team will depart Jamaica on the Official Carrier for Jamaican Swimming, Air Jamaica, on Friday July 26 and dive into action on Tuesday July 30. The swimming competition will end on Sunday August 4. The team is scheduled to return to the island on Monday August 5.
