THE ASAJ APPROVES CARIFTA AND CISC QUALIFYING TIMES

The ASAJ Council at its meeting on July 11, 2001 approved the CARIFTA and CISC Championships qualiying times up to 2004. ASAJ President, John Eyre has advised that the times for the Commonwealth Games, Pan American Games, The World Championships and the 2004 Olympic Games will by approved as soon as possible. The times for the 2002 Commonwealth Games is expected to be published by the middle of August after discussions with the Jamaica Olympic Association have been completed. 

ASUA and FINA have their own qualifiying requirements for the Pan American and Olympic Games and final team selection for these games is made by the Jamaica Olympic Association based on the ASAJ's recomendations. By mid August, the ASAJ ecpects to issue provisional qualifying standards which may be amended once ASUA and FINA approved their final standards. Changes, if any, are expected to be minor.
