ATKINSON AND CHUCK LEAD THE WAY AT CCCAN

Jamaica’s Olympian swimmers Janelle Atkinson and Angela Chuck started Jamaica’s quest for honors at the Central American and Caribbean Swimming Championships (CCCAN) with a bang when in the first event they qualified first and second for the final of the Female 18 and Over 100 M Freestyle. Atkinson’s time of 58.23 set a new CCCAN Meet record for the age group while Chuck swam a personal best of 58.96.

Three other Jamaicans qualified for the finals. Dominic Lee swam 1:11.37 in the 13-14 Male 100 M Breaststroke to qualify with the fourth fastest time. In the girls 11-12 100 M Freestyle, Alia Atkinson’s time of 1:03.93 was enough to qualify in sixth position. In the Male 18 and Over 100 M Freestyle, Ramon James qualified in eighth position with a time of 54.78.

Raine Paulson-Andrews is second alternate in the 13-14 100 M Breaststroke (1:25.00).

15-17 Male 100 M Breaststroke – Andrew Saunders (1:12.80) 12th

11-12 Male 100 M Freestyle –         Brad Hamilton (1:04.78) 14th

                                                Travis Forte (1:06.00) 18th
