ATKINSON BREAKS THE JAMAICAN 50 M FREE NATIONAL RECORD

Swimming for the Bolles Sharks in the Florida Sectionals, Janelle Atkinson broke the Jamaican National Senior 50 M Freestyle record by clocking 27.06 as the leadoff swimmer in the 4 X 50 Freestyle relay. Despite the record swim by Atkinson, the Bolles relay team finished third. 

Atkinson came close to her 200 M Butterfly National record set at CCCAN when she swam 2:19.57 to finish 4th bettering her preliminary heats time of 2:20.08.  to finish 4th in 2.19.57 near her national record of 2:18.78 set a few weeks ago in the the Dominican Republic. 

In the individual 100 M Freestyle Atkinson bettered her prelims time of 58.28 to place second in 57.87 in a close finish with Christina Swindle who won in 57.83. Other Jamaicans who swam in the were Allison Bardowell who came 46th in 1:01.83, Karese Cain 140th in1:07.83 and Melissa Bardowell 142nd in 1:07.90.

Adi Atkinson finished 39th in the 200 M Breastroke in 2:43.24. Melissa Bardowell finished 67th in the 200 M Backstroke touching in 2:51.48.
