ADI AND ALIA ATKINSON CONTINUE TO PERFORM WELL AT SOUTHERN ZONE CHAMPIONSHIPS

On the penultimate day of the championships both Adi and Alia competed in the 100 and 200 M Breastroke events respectively. Unfortunately neither was able to make finals. Alia posted a time of 1:24.07 for 13th with splits of 39.59and 44.49 but would have had to have  bettered her personal best of 1:22.79 to make finals as 8th place did 1:22.74.

Adi Atkinson split 1:17.47 and 1:22.15 for a total time of 2:39.62 which gave him a placing of  13th. To qualify for finals he would have needed to do under 2:33.31. In the relays Alia helped Florida Gold Coast to fifth with a strong final  leg (28.68) for a time of  1:57.24

Adi's team in the 15-16 200 free relay had a clocking  of 1:40.57 aided by his third leg split time of 25.82. But even with a final leg of 23.92 by teamate Bryce Clough it was only good for 4th, just .14 from a medal placing.
