The Y-Speedos crowned themselves champions of
the AB Short Course Swim Classic Scoring 1010 points and taking seven (7) of
the twelve (12) Individual High point awards. Tornadoes Swim Club, the 2001
Champions, had to accept the second place trophy scoring 783 points while the
Marlins Swim Club scored 132 to take third.
In a competition that
scored points based on performance, 12 year old Brad Hamilton was clearly the
swimmer of the meet, scoring 81 points and winning nine events, five (5) of
which were quadruple “A” (AAAA) time standard swims. Ten (10) year old Ramon
Walton who should qualify for Jamaica National Squad in 2003 impressed with two
(2) quadruple “A” (AAAA) time standard swims of his own. competition rules
allowed swimmers to score points only if they achieved one of the six (6) time
standards.

scoring a total of 2071 points, the standard of the swimming showed a clear
improvement over 2001 when only 1649 were scored. INCREDIBLy, 51 of 90 events
had new records established.
