After
a week of scintillating performances in the pool, Jamaica’s Angela
Chuck was named by the Eastern
Collegiate Athletic Conference swimmer of the week. Chuck, last
weekend led Brown University to Ivy League victories over Cornell
University and Columbia University – Barnard College. A
freestylist, Dawn Chuck captured three individual events and was a
member of the winning 400-freestyle relay team. Chuck broke
the 50-freestyle pool record with a time of 23.80, the 100-freestyle
pool record with a time of 58.48 and the 200-individual medley pool
record, posting a time of 2:08.23. Swimming the final leg of
the 400-freestyle relay team, the Kingston, Jamaica native helped
the team break the pool record by three seconds with a time of
3:30.92.
Chuck,
who represented Jamaica at the Sydney Olympics, and is presently
preparing for the Commonwealth Games, will hope for similar
successes when the Brown Bears goes up against Yale University on
tomorrow (February 9).
