The buildup to CARIFTA continues to be intense as the
Jamaicans continue to record personal best times. Despite
this, only 2 medals were garnered by our swimmers through the
Atkinson siblings Alia and Adi. For the rest of the Caribbean
contingent it continued to be a Bajan and Bahamian as Chris
and Bradley accounted for 5 Golds and a Bronze.
Alia
accounted for the lone individual medal as she blasted her
prelims time of 25.36 (28.82) to grab the silver in a fast
24.94 (28.34) the fastest time by a Jamaican girl in the day.
Adi with a 1:00.04( 1:09.41) breast leg combined with
Bradley's back 53.26 (1:01.22) to grab the Bronze in 3:33.96
in the open 400 medley relay. Bradley took the 500 free in
4;40.20 (4:13.57) and the 100 back 52.17 (59.93). Chris got
his victories in the 50 free 21.56 (24.78), the 100 back 51.10
(58.76) for a total time of 3:28.31.
