JEVON ATKINSON BREAK 100 fREE NATIONAL AGE GROUP RECORD AT Speedo Champion Series

Jevon Atkinson today broke his own 15-17 100 M Freestyle 15-17 National and All Comers Age Group records swimming at the Speedo Champion Series in Fort Lauderdale. In the preliminary heats, Jevon swam a personal best 54.38 to qualify for the Consolation Final and break his previous record of 54.79 set at the Broward ABC Meet in May.

Determined to improve his time and swim the CAC Qualifying time of 53.99, Jevon gave a gutsy performance touching in 54.12, lowering the record but just missing the CAC qualifying time. He finished 6th in the heat and 14th overall.

In other events, 13 year old Alia Atkinson swam a respectable 3:07.62 to finish 83rd overall in the Open 200 M Breaststroke. She was just off her personal best time in the Women's Open 100 M Freestyle swimming 1:03.15 to touch in 73rd place. in the same event, Allison Bardowell finish 55th in a time of 1:02.56.

In the Women's Open 200 M Backstroke, Nicky Cain placed 68th with a time of 2:51.37.
