‘Y’SPEEDOS SWIM CLUB

Swimmers from Cayman, Aruba, Curacao and Panama will be coming to take part in the 8th renewal of the ‘Y’ Speedos’ Karl Dalhouse International Memorial Swim Meet.  Which begins at 5.30pm on Friday, January 31st 2003 at the National Stadium Swimming Pool and continues until Sunday, February 2nd.

The Stingrays Swim Club from Cayman along with representatives of the Sithoc Swim Team, Curacao, Ardol Swim Team, Aruba and Delfines Azules from Panama will be matching strokes with the defending champions and host team  the ‘Y’ Speedos Swim Club.

‘Y’ Speedos Swim Club led by their top senior swimmers Todd Johnson and Lemone Lowe will be using the depth of their younger swimmers to hold off the strong challenge from the Tornadoes Swim Club.

A new dimension to the meet is the inclusion of events for the Masters’ swimmers, who must be twenty-five (25) years and over and who will be competing for their own trophy, the Karl Dalhouse Masters’ Trophy. Masters swimmers entered in the Meet range from past international representatives to relative beginners. The introduction of Masters into local competitions was done for the first time last year at the 2002 Karl Dalhouse Meet, when they had to compete alongside the Age-groupers.

The Karl Dalhouse Meet continues on Saturday with sessions at 8.30 am and 4.00 pm and on Sunday at 9.00 am. The presentations are scheduled for 12.30 pm.

Barbara Briggs, Meet Co-ordinator.
