
October 7, 2003……For the first time on over 9 years Jamaican Water Polo will be represented internationally when an Jamaican All Star Male and Female Team will travel to Trinidad to compete in the Tiger Sharks 3rd Annual International Tournament October 10-12, 2003. Jamaica will be matched against teams from Trinidad, Curacao, Barbados and Venezuela in a round robin competition format played over three days.
After Jamaica’s credible performance at the CARIFTA Swimming Championships in April, interest in Water Polo has been increasing resulting in Jamaica’s team being a mix of old and new blood. The teams have been preparing under the watchful eyes of Coaches Laszlo Borbely and Garth Williams and Water Polo Union Club President, Robert Bradford. Coach Borbely and Bradford will accompany the team.
Twenty swimmers, ten male and tem female have been selected to the traveling party which will depart on Thursday October 9 and return on Monday October 13, 2003. The full teams are:
