FLASH!! Bovell Sets World Record
EAST
MEADOW, New York,
March 25. GEORGE Bovell set a world record tonight
when he swam the short course 200-meter individual medley in 1:53.93 seconds at
the NCAA Championships in East Meadow, New York.
Bovell, a 19 year-old sophomore at Auburn University,
slashed more than seven-tenths of a second off the old mark of 1:54.65 set by
Finland's Jani Sievinen in
1994 and equalled in 2000 by Hungary's Attila Czene. Bovell is the first swimmer from Trinidad and Tobago to set a world
record.
