JAMAICA DRAWN IN GROUP D FOR
FINA JUNIOR MEN’S WATER POLO WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
July 14, 2005…..Jamaica’s
preliminary round opponents in the 13th FINA Junior Men’s Water Polo
World Championships are now known after FINA completed the draw yesterday in Montreal. The
Championships will be played on Mar
del Plata October 7th-15th,
2005. Jamaica’s Junior Men’s Team, who have qualified for the World
Championships for the first time, will first play Serbia-Montenegro on the
opening day of competition. Croatia, France, Iran
and regional opponents Colombia
will be Jamaica’s
other opponents in the preliminary round.
The twenty four (24) teams playing in the Junior Water
Polo World Championships will compete in four (4) groups, with each team
playing five (5) games in the preliminary round. The top sixteen teams will
move onto the final round.
The Jamaican Team is currently in training at the
National Stadium Pool. While they are fully focused on the World Championships,
the Jamaicans are keen to test their readiness when they compete in the Central
America and Caribbean Swimming Championships which will be held in Santo Domingo, August
1-9.
