TORNADOES SWIM CLUB WINS INVITATIONAL SWIM MEET

 

Hosts and defending champions Tornadoes Swim Club retained their title at the Tornadoes Swim Club Invitational Swim Meet which concluded today (Saturday, March 19, 2005) with 1,288 points over their nearest rival, the Y-Speedos with 1,077 points.

 

A total of eight (8) individual and ONE (1) relay records were broken.  In the Girls 9-10 50M Backstroke, Kendese Nangle of the Blue Seals Swim Club, broke the 8-year old record of 38.05 held by Allison Bardowell of the Y-Speedos, with a new Meet Record of 37.69.  She also broke the Girls 10 and Under 100M Freestyle event in a time of 1:14:99 erasing the old mark of 1:15:49.  Antoine Young, also of Blue Seals set a new Meet Record of 45.66 with an “AAAA” time erasing the old Meet Record of 47.34 in the Boys 8 & Under 50M Breaststroke.

 

CARIFTA Team Members Travis Forte set a new Meet Record in the Boys 11 & Over 200M Fly with a time of 2:19:58 and Brad Hamilton in the Boys 13 & Over 400M Free with a new Meet Record of 4:26:67. 

 

Other new record holders were: Daniel Harris - Y-Speedos, Jason-Craig Burnett and Stefani Webley of the Royal Swim Club.  The Tornadoes Swim Club team of Garrick Robinson, Travis Forte, Dave Smith and Brad Hamilton (all on the CARIFTA Team), in the Boys 13 & Over 200M Freestyle Relay, set a new Meet Record of 1:43:74 erasing the old mark of 1:43:86.
