JEVON ATKINSON FINISHES SECOND IN 50 Y FREE

Jevon Atkinson, Jamaica's fastest 50 M freestyle swimmer since Sion Brinn and  Bahamian Travano McPhee medley specialist were in action for their team University of Western Kentucky in the Sun Belt Conference in Nashville at the Caulkins Center. Jevon showed his tremendous sprint abilities by clocking 19.82 (23.05) to help Kentucky to third in 1:22.09. His time was the second fastest split of the 200 yard freestyle relay. Travano picked up fourth spot and 12TH overall in the 200 yard I.M when he clocked 1:56.86 (2:16.36). He had posted 1:56.83 (2:16.32) in the heats.

 

In the 50 yard freestyle Jevon stopped the clock in 20.50 (23.84) for second place. In the heats Atkinson clocked 20.42 (23.74)

 

In the last race of the day Atkinson picked up his second medal of the day when he anchored the 400 yard medley to third position for a total team time of 3:21.62. His split for the 100 yard freestyle 45.16 (52.33)
