NATAHSA MOODIE TAKE GOLD, SILVER AND BRONZE FOR MICHIGAN WOLVERINES

At the Eastern Michigan University Invitational held at that school's pool last Friday Nov 30 to Saturday Dec 1, Jamaica's Natasha Moodie finished top three in the 50 Y Freestyle, 200 Y Free Relay and 400 Y Medley Relay. She took third place in the 50 yard freestyle stopping the clock in 24.28 (27.88 LCM). Moodie later anchored the University of Michigan A team to second spot in the 200 free relay 1:35.59 with a split of 23.69 (27.20) and eventually ascended to the top of the podium with a strong anchor leg in the 400 Y Medley of 51.63 (59.07)  to push Michigan to a winning time of 3:49.18. Moodie placed ninth in the 100 Y Freestyle in 53.67 (1:01.41) and 14th in the 100 Y Backstroke 1:03.57 (1:14.53).


Also swimming was Kalamazoo College's Dominican Republic sophomore Alfonso Espinosa. Espinosa took the top spot in the 100 Y Breastroke in 58.33 (1:08.14). He placed 7th in the 200 Y Breastroke in 2:12.40 (2:34.31 LC) and 11th in the 200 Y IM 2:03.78 ( 2:24.43). In the 200 yard medley relay he assisted the A team in taking the third position overall with his breastroke leg of 25.63 (29.94) for a total time of 1:32.96. In the longer medley relay the 400 he clocked 57.08 (1:06.68) to help the A team go up a step on the podium to second in a time of 3:26.44. In both the freestyle relays he was on the B teams that finished 6th with Alfonso on the third leg. In the 200 the team did 1:28.39 and his split was 21.66 (25.19) and in the 400 the total time was 3:14.44 and his leg was 47.79 (55.38).
