ALIA ATKINSON AND NATASHA
MOODIE FINISH THE 2005-06 SEASON ON THE USA SWIMMING TOP 16 LIST

Jamaica’s swimming sensation Alia Atkinson and her sprint freestyle rival Natasha Moodie finished the 2005-2006 swimming season in the USA Swimming
Top 16 List. The list records the 16 fastest times swum at any USA Swimming
sanctioned competition in every event for each age group.
Alia Atkinson was the second fastest 17-18 year
old swimmer in the female 100 M Breaststroke event with a time of 1:10.95. Only
Lyndsey Smith of the Green Terror Aquatic Club (GTAC)
based in Westminster, Maryland (GTAC) swam a faster time (1:10.89).
In the 50 M Freestyle, Atkinson’s best time of 26.66 placed her tied for 15th
place with Leigh Cole (CW). Topping this list was Dana Vollmer who swims for the
Fort Worth Area Swim Team (FAST) with a time of 25.78.
Natasha Moodie, who stunned the Jamaican Swimming Community when
she swam 26.67 in the 50 M Freestyle to briefly hold the National Record,
finished 15th in the 15-16 Top 16 List. She was tied for this spot
with Tara Thomas who swims for NOVA Aquatics based in Richmond Virginia.
Samantha Woodward’s very fast 25.70 was the top time in this event. Woodward
swims for the Kerr-McGee Swim Club in Oklahoma,
USA.
