The
Amateur Swimming Association of Jamaica (ASAJ) has announced the thirty two
(32) swimmers, eighteen (18) male and fifteen (15) female water polo players to
represent Jamaica at the 2006 CARIFTA Swimming Championships to be held in
Barbados April 6-9. The number of water polo players will be reduced to the
official team size of 13 male and 13 female players on March 5th
when the final entries have to be submitted to the organizers in
Sixteen
swimmers qualified for the team using the AA Time standards used for CARIFTA
Selection and after long discussion, the ASAJ Council, decided to modify the
selection criteria in an attempt to maximize points by ensuring relay team in
all age groups. In addition, Council also agreed to allow the Selection
Committee swimmers to consider swimmers who would qualify in one event with an
AA Time.
The
CARIFTA Organizers have announced that the CARIFTA Synchronized Swimming
Competition will not be held in
