BRAD HAMILTON SMASHES 26 YEAR OLD NATIONAL RECORD AS JAMAICA NABS SIX
MORE CISC MEDALS
Brad Hamilton shattered a 26-year-old National record while Kendese Nangle breoke her own preliminary meet record to swim for gold on Day three (3) of the Caribbean Island Swimming Championships. Synchronized Swimmers nab Bronze taking Jamaica’s medal count to Sixteen (16).
Brad Hamilton added two (2) more medals to his cache. He won Gold and set a new Jamaican National and National Age Group and All Comers Age Group record in the 15-17 200M Butterfly in a time of 2:06.72, edging out Ronnie Benjamin of the Dominican Republic (2:08.77) and Harold Rivera of Puerto Rico (2:12.27). This erases a previous record of 2:06.87 set by Allan Roy Marsh in July 1980, 26 years ago. Brad also grabbed the silver in the 15-17 50M Freestyle (24.32) behind Rodion Davelar of the Netherland Antilles (24.30) in an extremely close race, the two (2) swimmers finishing only hundredths of a second apart. Third was Vereance Burrows of the Bahamas (24.39) and fourth was Travis Forte of Jamaica with (24.79).
Kendese
Nangle and David Bromfield both added to their medal tally in the 50M
backstroke with Nangle winning Gold and lowering the CISC, National and All
Comers Records she had set in the preliminary heat for this event. In a time of
(32.61) she finished ahead of Karline Theodora of the Netherlands Antilles
(33.52) and Siona Huxley of St. Lucia (33.63). Bromfield sped into third place
(33.12) behind Javier Solivan of Puerto Rico (32.73) and Glenn Gemerts (32.80)
of Suriname.
Ramon
Walton also added to the Medal Count placing second in the 13-14 200M Butterfly
(2:19.38). 1st was Christian Bayo of Puerto Rico (2:17.76) and 3rd
was Said Sowma of Suriname (2:22.38). Also in this race was Dominic Walter of
Jamaica who finished in 6th place with a time of 2:40.05.
The
Jamaican Team also had several other swimmers in the finals with Dominic Walter
Placing 5th in the 1500 M Freestyle (18:05.90), Steven Moodie
placing 5th in the 100M Butterfly, Travis Forte placing 6th
in the 50M Backstroke, and Ramon Walton, Dominic Lee and Raynae Hall placing 8th
in the 50M Backstroke, 50M Freestyle and the 100M Freestyle respectively.
The
Synchronized Swimmers also had a successful day with Ashlei Gayle and Jessica
Lim Sang winning Bronze in the 12 & Under Duet Competition scoring 49.463
behind the duets from the Dominican Republic (57.963) and Aruba (57.491). Robyn
Parkins and Jhaenelle Adams (56.399) also won Bronze in the 16-18 Age Group behind
Puerto Rico (66.801) and Aruba (65.052).
Jamaica
still holds 5th place behind Puerto Rico (968.5), Trinidad and
Tobago (600),

Bahamas (446.5) and the Dominican Republic (242).
