Host and
defending champions Tornadoes Swim Club, without their top swimmer Brad
Hamilton, came from behind in the final session of the two-day Tornadoes
Invitational Swim Meet to retain the championship trophy with 1,104.50
points. Archrivals Y-Speedos with 958.50
points finished second. The Y-Speedos,
led by CARIFTA representative, Gillian Millwood, dominated the championships
for the first two (2) sessions, but the host club never gave up and put on some
sterling performances in the relays and 50M sprints to claim victory.
A total of fourteen (14) records
were broken. Gillian Millwood (17)
accounted for two (2) Meet Records. In
the Girls 11 and Over 200M Butterfly, she broke her
own record of 2:46.10 to set a new Meet record of 2:41.92. She then went on to capture the Girls 11 and Over 400M Individual Medley in a new Meet Record of 6:03.27
seconds erasing the old record of 6:03.51 seconds. Other record holders were:

swimming in the Masters category, also erased the record in the Male 25-34 50M
Backstroke.

the top five (5) were:
Blue Seals - 521 points, Electric Eels – 380 points and Marlins – 198
points.
