New....May 12, 2008 - National squad members, please note the following changes to training schedule while the 50M pool is closed...

Junior and Senior squads  Wednesdays 5:00am - 6:45am and 4:00pm - 6:00pm

Development squad         Mondays 4:00pm - 5:30pm (effective May 19th)

Training will be held at the National Stadium.

 

New....May 5, 2008 - The ASAJ has arranged training sessions for swimming officials, especially those planning to work during CISC in June. These are scheduled for May 10 and 24....more

 

New....April 30, 2008 - This year FINA, the governing body for swimming, synchro and waterpolo is celebrating 100 years, having being founded on July 19, 1908. Read message from the President.

 

April 29, 2008 - The training schedule for all national squads for May and June has been posted....schedule

 

April 29, 2008 - Island Aquatics participated in the Gold Coast Synchronised Swimming International Competition (Florida, USA) on March 29-30 and returned with six medals (2 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze). An unattached swimmer from Portland also participated in the meet and won 2 gold medals.

April 20, 2008 - Tornadoes Swim Club today won the Tornadoes Invitational Swim Meet, bringing their hold on the trophy to eight out of the twelve times the meet has been hosted by the club. Y-Speedos was second and Blue Seals third. ....results

 

April 19, 2008 - Tornadoes Swim Club, with 1006 points, jumped back in the lead after session 3 of the Tornadoes Invitational Swim Meet. Y-Speedos (644) is second with Blue Seals (314) third followed by Electric Eels (194)

 

April 19, 2008 - Y-Speedos Swim Club has taken over the lead after session 2 of the Tornadoes Invitational Swim Meet. They have amassed 421 points to Tornadoes 315, Blue Seals 110 and Flying Fish Ambassadors 89.

April 1, 2008 - Corrections have been made to the  National Records posted yesterday.

 

March 31, 2008 - Jamaica finished four in both points (578) and medals (35) at the just concluded CARIFTA Swimming Championships. Breanna Roman (50.50 points) won the High Point Award for 11-12 girls and Victoria Ho (58 points) did the same for 13-14 girls. The competition was won by French Antilles, followed by Trinidad & Tobago and Bahamas.

 

March 31, 2008 - Following outstanding performances at CARIFTA Swimming, the national records have been updated. Dominic Walter established new national senior record in the 1500M Free, erasing the previous mark set by Andrew Phillips in 1978.

 

March 31, 2008 - In the final night of competition at the CARIFTA Swimming Championships, Jamaica earned 2 gold, 3 silver and 4 bronze medals to finish with a total of 35 medals. Gold medal winners were Brittany Kenny (13-14 Girls 200M back) and the 13-14 Girls 200M free relay (R Hall, V Ho, D Banks, K Nangle)

 

March 30, 2008 - Jamaica will be in 17 events in Day 4 finals tonight at the CARIFTA Swimming Championships. Leading the charge for gold medals are Octivia Gray and Brittany Kenny going to the finals as best qualifiers in the 11-12 girls 100M breast and 13-14 girls 200M back respectively....more

 

March 29, 2008 - Jamaica increased its medal count at the CARIFTA Swimming Championships by gaining 1 gold, 3 silver and 4 bronze during Day 3 finals. Breanna Roman won the 11-12 Girls 100M free, stopping the clock at 1:03.05....more

 

March 29, 2008 - Jamaica had their best night at the CARIFTA Swimming Championships in a while as they gained 6 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze medals during the finals of Day 2. Gold medal performances came from Breanna Roman (11-12 Girls 200M free), Victoria Ho (13-14 Girls 200M free), Stefani Webley (11-12 Girls 50M fly), Kendese Nangle (13-14 Girls 50M fly and 100M back) and in the 13-14 Girls 400M medley relay (K Nangle, V Ho, A Royal-Eatmon, R Hall)....more

March 28, 2008 - Jamaica began their medal haul at the CARIFTA Swimming Championships with 2 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze during the finals of Day 1, in which Kendese Nangle and Dominic Walter established new national age group records in the 13-14 girls 50M Back and 15-17 boys 1500M free respectively....more

March 24, 2008 - The curtains came down this evening at the CARIFTA Waterpolo Championships, after four days of competition in which twenty-two games were played in three categories.....medals

 

March 24, 2008 - The 18&Under female team got the silver medal at CARIFTA Waterpolo, in a game won by Trinidad & Tobago. Gabrielle Mesquita scored both goals in the 16-2 score line. In the earlier game, the 18&Under male team defeated Bahamas 12-3 to gain the bronze medal. Goals were scored by Justin Taylor (3), Matthew Williams and Akua Walters (2 each) and 1 each from Jonathan Hernould, Stefan Nelson, Nicholas Jones, Zawdie Coke and Adrian Fisher

 

March 24, 2008 - The 18&Under female team won their match this morning against Curacao in CARIFTA Waterpolo, beating  them 7-4, with goals from Gabrielle Mesquita (3), Kristen Jones (2), Nicholene Bryan (1) and Rashida Brown (1). In the earlier match, the 15&Under male team lost to Trinidad & Tobago, going down 4-22. Goal scorers were Corey Richards (3) and David Millwood.

 

March 23, 2008 - The 18&Under female team was leading by 2 goals at the start of the match against Trinidad & Tobago in CARIFTA Waterpolo, but was unable to hold the lead and ended up losing 3-15. Bernadine Christie, Leigh-Anne Lewars and Gabrielle Mesquita scored 1 goal each.

 

March 23, 2008 - Jamaica had its first win in CARIFTA Waterpolo when the 18&Under male team beat Bahamas 13-5 with 6 goals from Justin Taylor, 2 from Jonathan Hernould and 1 each from Matthew Mason, Matthew Williams, Zawdie Coke, Adrian Fisher and Akua Walters. In the earlier match, the 15&Under male team lost to Curacao 27-4. Goal scorers were Corey Richards (2), David Millwood (1) and Jonathan Harris (1).

 

March 22, 2008 - The 18&Under male team put up a valiant fight but still went down 6-10 to Trinidad & Tobago in the most competitive game so far at CARIFTA Waterpolo. Justin Taylor scored 3 goals with 1 each from Matthew Williams, Akua Walters and Jonathan Hernould. In earlier afternoon games, the 15&Under males lost 4-19 to Trinidad & Tobago (Scorers were Jonathan Harris - 2, Corey Richards - 1, Ryan Johnson - 1) and the 18&Under females went down to Curacao 7-15 (Goals from Bernadine Christie - 2, Gabrielle Mesquita - 2, Kristen Jones, Ashley Kumst and Leigh Anne Lewers - 1 each)

 

March 22, 2008 - The 18&Under girls lost to Trinidad & Tobago in CARIFTA Waterpolo this morning. Final score was Trinidad 18 to Jamaica's 2 (Christina Martells and Gabrielle Mesquita). All three Jamaican teams will be in action this afternoon

 

March 21, 2008 - Goals from Justin Taylor (4), Nicholas Jones (1) and Jonathan Hernould (1) were not enough to prevent the 18&Under male team from going down 16-6 to Curacao in CARIFTA Waterpolo. Earlier in the day, the 15&Under male team lost 26-4 to Trinidad & Tobago. Goal scorers were Corey Richards (3) and David Thwaites (1)....more

March 4, 2008 - Jamaican Brad Hamilton wins 4 Gold Medals at the Eastern Interscholastic Swimming and Diving Championships at the LaSalle University Kirk Natatorium from Feb 22-23....more

 

March 4, 2008 - Jamaican swimmers Alia Atkinson and Todd Johnson were in blistering form representing their schools at swim meets this past week. Alia won four gold medals for Texas A&M while Todd was a double gold medalist for Hamilton College. March 2, 2008 - Hillel Prep and Sts Peter and Paul Prep were the big winners at the Prep/Primary section of Mayberry Schools Swim Meet, placing first and second respectively for the Championship, Champion Boys and Champion Girls trophies. Naggo Head was the Champion Primary school.....results

February 17, 2008 - The curtains came down yesterday on the Walter Rodgers Age Group Championships with Tornadoes winning both the Age Group and Masters sections. y-Speedos was second in both sections and Blue Seals third in the Age Group.....results

 

February 16, 2008 - Tornadoes has increased their lead, entering session 5 and the last day of Walter Rodgers Age Group Championships.  They have amassed 4582 points, followed by y-Speedos with 3461 points and Blue Seals with 1505 points.....results

 

February 16, 2008 - In session 3 of the Walter Rodgers Age Group Championships today, Victoria Ho swam 4:47.86 in the 13-14 Girls 400M Free to break the meet record that was set by Belinda Phillips in 1973. The points standing at the end of the session were Tornadoes (3102), y-Speedos (2449) and Blue Seals (971).....results

 

February 15, 2008 - Eleven meet records have been broken so far in the Walter Rodgers Age Group Championships, as the swimmers compete for a spot on the CARIFTA team. Tornadoes (2092) has extended its lead over y-Speedos (1419) and Blue Seals (648).....results

 

February 15, 2008 - Tornadoes Swim Club (857) are the leaders after day 1 of the Walter Rodgers Age Group Championships, followed by y-Speedos (492), Blue Seals (267) and Electric Eels (141).....more.....results

 

February 13, 2008 - Jamaica will be hosting the CARIFTA Water Polo Championships at the National Stadium Pool, March 21-24, 2008. More details will be published shortly.....meet summons

 

February 6, 2008 - The Prep/Primary section of the Mayberry Schools Meet will be held on March 1, 2008 instead of February 23th as previously scheduled. The change is necessary as the pool will be closed to facilitate the Gibson Relays. The High/University section remains on February 22.

 

February 3, 2008 - The curtains came down today on an exciting Karl Dalhouse Swim Meet, in which eleven new meet records were established. In the end, Tornadoes (905 points) were declared age-group winners from y-Speedos (901) and Stingray (710). y-Speedos won the masters section with 99 points....results
