55 CHILDREN ENJOY WATABOUND CLINIC WITH ALIA ATKINSON

Updated: Jul 5, 2019

Fifty five children from two of Kingston's Children's Homes enjoyed the fun and excitement of a Watabound Clinic led by Jamaica's Alia Atkinson and supported by a team of SwimJamaica Instructors. The clinic, which was inspired by Alia and Marcia Brevett, Founder of the Helping Others With Love Foundation was held at the UWI Pool on Friday June 28, 2019.

The children learned critical water safety skills during an introductory learn to swim lesson and enjoyed a fun filled day outside of the home. They were surrounded by loving friends of the Foundation. Alia enjoyed her time in the pool with the children while the SwimJamaica Instructors ensured that the event was packed with fun and happiness.

SwimJamaica, who's Mission is to provide opportunities to ALL Jamaicans to learn to swim, is currently seeking just over One Million Jamaican dollars to fund 30 learn to swim classes for each child. The 30 classes will enable the children to complete the SwimJamaica Levels 1, 2 and 3. After completing the three levels, the children will be able to swim at least 25 meters freestyle.

Organizations interested in supporting this initiative should contact SwimJamaica.
